Coaches in Career Management are determined that changing yourself is much more effective and efficient than being changed. They believe in the individual’s ability to direct yourself. Success in life is the result of a conscious choice. We help people to use their personal strength to get a goal-oriented grip on their career development. Investing in your staff by offering career coaching helps people to make more conscious choices in their development, with a very positive effect on how they work and contribute to the success of your organisation.
Target group If you want to offer your staff, or management at any level, the opportunity to add a new spark to their careers or to function (even) better, career coaching is the way to do it. You will recognise the ‘career questions’: where am I in my career? Are my ambitions realistic? Am I entitled and fit for a management position? Our coaches are experienced in both group and individual coaching. Together with the participant, they will investigate what is keeping them from making a new choice or effectively dealing with their career issues and come up with a plan to make a change.
The 3 phases from request to completion of an individual tutoring course
1. Goal-setting interview: set out the ground rules The necessary information is exchanged in an interview in which the participant’s wishes and aims are also discussed. This results in an overall plan to achieve results by career coaching. Preferably, another interview takes place with the line manager or personnel manager to match the participant’s and the organisation’s intentions, and Schouten China’s approach to both.
2. Individual course: making the voyage of discovery During the entire, approx. 8-week course, a coach will coach the participant. From the interviews and subsequent assignments, participant and coach jointly come to a realistic analysis to explore possible solutions. The participant will acquire insights of career experience, career values and successes and will recognise which qualities and in which directions growth should be sought. The participant will complete a Personal Development and Career Plan.
3. Evaluation: further under your own steam There will be a final interview to test whether the objectives have been achieved and to discuss what follow-up actions may be needed to make the Personal Development Plan come true. The participant’s line manager or personnel manager may be present.
Method The participant will be confronted with the consequences of his actions (or lack of action). The coach will hold up a mirror and provide feedback. Personal confrontation by the coach gets the candidate moving. Confrontation may be HARD, but also with respect and a HEART for the matter.

ResultsDepending on the starting point and objectives, a course of coaching will give the participant a clear picture of his qualities and capacities. Greater self-knowledge and self-confidence will allow for giving more direction to his career. Work performance will improve, while the participant will have a ‘Personal Document’ with which he or she may start a new career, either within or outside your organisation.
