Short description

How to empower your team and let them do a better job?

Target group 
This training is meant for employees, supervisors and managers acting as team leader in improvement projects in their own work environment or process. To participate in this training you should have enjoyed a senior secondary vocational education or higher.

Course content
The training deals with the following topics:

  • Introduction the basics of quality management, continuous improvement (Kaizen, PDCA Cycle) and  customer focus
  • Problem solving cycle (8D, story board)
  • Process improvement methodology (simple DMAIC as used in Six Sigma)
  • Basic quality tools (See ‘Memory Jogger II’)
  • Teamwork, roles, phases and cooperation
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Basics of project management
  • Basics of change management

Results
Starting from a vague problem statement or improvement opportunity, you will be able to form a team, get sponsorship and have an effective kick-off meeting. You will know how to define it as an improvement project with objectives, steps, timing and resources all to be agreed by your team members and accepted by your sponsor. You will be capable of leading the execution of the project, ensuring delivery of results and celebrating success. You will be able to apply a systematic approach to problem solving/process improvement and to select the appropriate tools and techniques to support analysis, development, implementation and communication. You will know how to motivate your team members to effectively work together, not just with each other but also with relevant stakeholders, and to deliver the project objectives. You will have full understanding of the basics of systematically improvement in quality control and you will be able to detect the need for support from managers, executives and specialists. You will be ready to lead the opening, interim and final communications with your project sponsors and other stakeholders.
