Work is all about working with other people. You simply can’t achieve your goals without the work and help of others. And the better the cooperation, the easier results are achieved. Simply saying “You are now a team” is not enough to make people work together. Often people should be a team, but don’t act as one. What makes a professional and effective team? When a result is considered a true ‘team effort’?

Team Effectiveness Model
S&N International provides training and coaching to teams, in order to improve their effectiveness and work results. We help team members to cooperate more effectively and to successfully deal with obstacles and resistance that occur in every team. For this purpose we have developed the Team Effectiveness Model. It is based on the principle that creating a team is the result of detailed conversation resulting in an agreement on the answer of four basic questions:

  1. What is the goal we want to reach? Do we all agree on that goal and does it have personal value to each participant?
  2. Does everyone know how to contribute? Do others know? Do we all agree on that?
  3. Are the working rules and procedures clear and agreed upon?
  4. Are there any other hidden obstacles?

A team will have to go over all these questions every time a difficult situation occurs. Needless to say that, as a team leader, you are to help the team members becoming effective. You will have to coach them through the various phases of team development. You should know when improvisation starts and how regular work methods need to be changed to result in steady routines.
